This Supercharged Shelby GT350 Makes A Positively-Stupid 819 RWHP: Video

With all the headlines that have been made by 2016+ Ford Shelby GT350 and GT350R Mustang models, we knew we had to have missed one or two stories worth every bit of our attention.

And so we have: this video, taken back in February of last year, captures dyno testing in what Lethal Performance Inc. claims were the first current-generation Shelby GT350 ever to be supercharged. Thanks to a 2.9-liter Whipple blower, uprated fuel system components, a tank full of E85, and a custom Lund Racing tune, this lethal weapon is pumping out an incredible 819 horsepower at the rear wheels, with 605 lb-ft of wheel torque.

And here we thought the Shelby GT350’s factory 526 crank horsepower was perfectly apt.

Of course, if 819 wheel horsepower sounds a bit too adventurous for you, Hennessey Performance Engineering offers a number of kits for the Shelby GT350 ranging from the modest mail-order Power Pack, which adds about 30 horsepower while preserving the Voodoo V8’s natural aspiration, to the 870-horsepower HPE850 upgrade, which also utilizes a 2.9-liter supercharger. Those figures describe crank horsepower, mind you; rear-wheel horsepower will be less due to losses in the drivetrain.

If you’re feeling more adventurous, on the other hand, Hennessey also offers 1,017- and 1,220-horsepower twin-turbo packages. Ay dios mio.
